The Phlebotomy Program offered at this facility is broken into two parts. Part 1 of Phlebotomy Training consists of Didactic training and includes both basic and advanced classroom instruction. It is a course designed for those new to the phlebotomy field as well as those who have less than 1,040 hours of experience. Part 2 of the training course is the Clinical part of the program.
This course covers the practical experience requirement that is needed in order for one to become a certified phlebotomy technician in the state of California. This part of the program includes hands-on training and practice in the areas of blood collection, after puncture care, blood sample processing, and the proper disposal of waste and sharps. Upon completion of both Part 1 and Part 2, students will be prepared to take their certification examination and may then apply for a phlebotomy license in the state of California.
